What Winning the Be Original Americas Next Generation of Originality Award Means to Us

We are deeply honored to receive the Be Original Americas Next Generation of Originality Award. Being recognized for the originality of our pieces by an organization that has spent over a decade championing authentic design feels incredible..

Original expression of ideas matters. It is what creates culture and allows us to express and understand who we are. When original design is valued, culture wins. This is why we admire the vital work of Be Original Americas.

When designing, we always try to create pieces that speak for us, tell a story, and most importantly, allow people to connect with them. Sometimes we describe our work as a blend of Scandinavian purity with New York energy, but in the end, it is our experiences and our sensibilities for what we find beautiful that shape the work we bring to life.

We hope that our pieces allow people to express their individuality through their home. Environments directly influence how you feel. The way we choose to live, and the objects we invite into our lives, shape who we are and how we perceive the world around us. When we are conscious about how we want to live life, we can shape our surroundings in a way that encourages the right habits. A large comfortable couch and beautiful cups invite for a slow morning in the living room with good coffee and warm conversation; a beautiful dinner table, comfortable chairs, and cozy lighting invite for dinners that stretch long into the night. Design, at its best, encourages the habits and rituals that make life feel intentional. When you love your home, believe it to be beautiful, and find joy in the spaces and objects around you, you will feelthe impact every day. Good design sets that stage.

The Next Generation of Originality Award feels like a confirmation that we are doing something right and an encouragement to keep working on what feels interesting and meaningful to us. It strengthens our positioning as a studio and affirms our sensibility. As a studio, we believe the best way to share our sense of beauty is to work with brands we admire. It is wonderful that Be Original Americas allows us to be part of a community with such iconic members as LouisPoulsen, DWR, FLOS, BluDot, and MillerKnoll. Many of these brands have been a great source of inspiration over the years; we deeply admire their work and hope to design for them in the future.

We feel grateful to Be Original Americas, to the designers and jurors behind the Next Generation of Originality Award for their decision, and thankful for the broader community of brands, artisans, and collaborators who continue to fight for a design world where originality is protected and celebrated. A special thank you to Beth Dickstein and David Rosenkvist for leading this meaningful mission. We look forward to continuing to earn our place in the conversation.
